ALTAMONT HC
After the peace and love of Woodstock came the fury of Altamont.
In December 1969, 300,000 people gathered at California’s Altamont Speedway for a West Coast answer to Woodstock. The Rolling Stones headlined what was meant to be a celebration of music and freedom. Instead, poor planning, rising tensions, and security provided by the Hells Angels turned the festival into chaos and tragedy--a moment many see as the end of the 1960s dream.
Altamont follows Jenny and her friends as they road trip from Los Angeles in search of music and good times, only to find themselves fighting to survive as the event spirals out of control. Amid love, friendship, and disillusionment, their personal struggles collide with a cultural breaking point.
Illustrated by The Walking Dead artist Charlie Adlard in a style inspired by 1960s pop art, Herik Hanna and Adlard blend fact and fiction to capture a defining, dark chapter in music history.
