COMPETE EIGHTBALL TP VOL 1 - 18
FANTAGRAPHICS BOOKS
(W) Daniel Clowes
Collecting issues 1-18 of the iconic Daniel Clowes comics anthology, Eightball; it contains the original installments of Ghost World, the short that the film Art School Confidential was based on, and much more, newly designed for paperback by the author. The beloved comic book series Eightball made Daniel Clowes' name even before he gained fame as a bestselling graphic novelist (Ghost World, Patience, David Boring, Ice Haven) and filmmaker. From 1989 to 1997, he produced 18 issues of what is still widely considered one of the greatest and most influential comic book titles of all time. Now, Fantagraphics is collecting every single page of these long out-of-print issues in a paperback edition. It includes more than 500 pages of vintage Clowes: seminal serialized graphic novels, strips, and rants, such as "Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron," "Ghost World," "Pussey," "I Hate You Deeply," "Sexual Frustration," "Ugly Girls," "Why I Hate Christians," "Message to the People of the Future," "Paranoid," "My Suicide," "Chicago," "Art School Confidential," "On Sports," "Zubrick and Pogeybait," "Hippypants and Peace-Bear," "Grip Glutz," "The Sensual Santa," "Feldman," and many more. Features new covers by Clowes, and "Behind the Eightball": the author's annotations for each issue, heavily illustrated with art and photos from his archives.
VENDETTA HOLY VINDICATOR TP
FLOATING WORLD COMICS
(W/A) Steve McArdle
Just when we thought we'd seen every supreme extreme in the superhero megaverse, we unearthed the decades-old, skin-flayingly singular work of Steve McArdle and his Red Bullet Comics imprint. From the start, McArdle was a maestro of blood and mayhem, an overlooked '90s creative genius wrapped in black leather and raw ambition. In his undisputed masterpiece Vendetta: Holy Vindicator, skulls, spikes, motorbikes, chains, more chains, and Satan collide at thrash-metal speed in what may be the most intensely confident entry to the self-published comics canon ever.

"What destiny awaits them after the screaming?
After abruptly departing from a train in a small town, a couple encounters a "weeping woman"-a professional mourner-sobbing inconsolably at a funeral. Mako changes afterward-she can't stop crying! In another tale, having decided to die together, a couple enters Aokigahara, the infamous suicide forest. What is the shocking torrent they discover there?
One of horror's greatest talents, Junji Ito beckons readers to join him in an experience of ultimate terror with four new stories."
THE COMIC BOOK LESSON - A GRAPHIC NOVEL THAT SHOWS YOU HOW TO MAKE COMICS
WATSON GUPTILL
(W/A/CA) Mark Crilley
On her quest to turn her story into a comic book, Emily visits her comic book shop and local comics convention, where she meets three mentors. Trudy, a high school student working on comics of her own, teaches Emily how to create expressive characters and how art can convey action and suspense. Madeline, a self-published manga artist, teaches Emily how to use panel composition and layout to tell a story visually and how to develop a comic from script to sketch to finished pages. Sophie, a professional graphic novelist, guides Emily through fine-tuning the details of dialogue, sequence, and pacing to lead readers through the story. Each lesson builds off the previous information and skills presented, and the sequential art format provides the perfect vehicle for step-by-step instruction.
