We normally ship USPS Priority Mail, insured. Orders ship on the next business day, and usually arrive within three days after shipping. You can also choose an in-store pickup option if you are near our physical location.

These are the primary methods we use to ship orders, to give you a general idea of the shipping cost of your order (your total shipping cost will show before you enter your payment):

  • Legal Envelope: $7.00.  Ships up to 6 comic books (or 1-2 graded & slabbed comics). Comics are secured within a cardboard T shipper.
  • Medium Box: $13.75.  Ships up to 2 Mego-sized figures. Can also fit up to 60 bagged and boarded comics.
  • Large Box: $19.00.  Ships 3 or more Mego-sized figures, more than 60 comics, or other large items. This is the maximum shipping fee charged by our online shop.

For international orders, or if you do not have a credit card, you can send an email to orders@emeraldcitycomics.com with your PayPal email address and shipping address, and a detailed list of what you want, and we can send you a PayPal invoice that includes your shipping quote.

New comics are usually available when we open every Wednesday.

Games and other merchandise can arrive almost any day of the week.

New comics are racked alphabetically by title. Exception: superhero titles are racked by the character’s name instead of title (“Amazing Spider-Man,” for instance, is racked under “Spider-Man”). This week’s new comics have a “New!” label in front of them for easy browsing.

Graphic novels are racked as follows:

  • DC Superheroes / DC Animation / DC Vertigo
  • Marvel Superheroes / Star Wars / Coloring Books
  • Fiction & Literature — publisher subsections:
    • Dark Horse Comics
    • Image Comics
    • Boom Studios
    • Dynamite Entertainment
    • IDW Publishing
  • Fiction & Literature (all other publishers)
  • Archival Collections (collections of newspaper strips and vintage comics)
  • Art / Reference (including “How To”)
  • Manga (Japanese comics, translated into English)
  • Young Adult
  • Kids & Animation

Back issues are filed alphabetically by title (as listed in the annual Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide).

sale trades

Every week, the Emerald City staff each has their own recommended new comic displayed on the counter just inside the store, and we feature a selection of new comics at the register counter. We also have a “Featured Books” table of some of our favorite and best-selling graphic novels. We’re always happy to help you find a comics story you might enjoy, but we will not recommend any new comics for their potential future investment value — we believe the primary value in comics is the reading experience.

Sign up for our in-store Rewards Card — we promise not to sell your information or otherwise use it for nefarious purposes! Currently, back issue comics (non-vintage), graphic novels, games, and toys count towards their own frequent-buyer programs. After you buy so many, you get a discount on the next one equal to the average you’ve spent on the previous items. For back issues and graphic novels, it’s 10 items. For games or toys, it’s 20 items. You have a full year to purchase all the items you need to complete each program. Then you have another full year to use the credit you receive for completing a program!

Read all about it on our Rewards Card page here: http://emeraldcitycomics.com/rewards-card/

Yes we do! A discount is offered to all active military, retirees, and veterans with a valid military ID or proof of military service: 10% off new comics, non-vintage back issue comics, and books & graphic novels; 5% off everything else in the store, including toys & collectibles, games, vintage comics, collecting supplies, apparel, trading cards, wall art, and snacks & drinks (excludes consignment items). Just sign up for a Rewards Card and present it with each purchase, and we will add the Military discount to your account. This discount will supersede our Rewards Programs, as it is the better savings of the two. Our system always gives you the best discount available, so when we have a sale with a larger discount, you will be upgraded to that instead of your Military discount for that purchase.

This service holds new comic books and graphic novels for you, so you never miss a chapter of your favorite stories. Here’s how it works:
• It’s FREE. You pay only for the merchandise as you pick it up.
• Just let us know which comic book titles and graphic novels you would like, and we will hold them for you when they arrive. Please subscribe to at least three titles.
• Please pick up everything in your file at least once a month. Delinquent subscription files will be put on hold, and the books will be returned to stock.
• We will gladly try to keep you informed about upcoming comics and merchandise, but we also recommend Previews, our distributor’s monthly catalog. You can use this catalog every month to order items that are not already on your subscription file.
• If you order an item that cost $75 or more, please leave a 50% deposit. This deposit is nonrefundable unless the item is canceled by the manufacturer or distributor.
You can sign up online here!

If you see an item in the Previews catalog that you want, or if you don’t see an item in the store that you’re looking for, please ask us. We can often special order it for you. If you order an item that cost $75 or more, please leave a 50% deposit. The deposit is nonrefundable unless the item is canceled by the manufacturer or distributor.

Yes we do!
• The service is free — there is no layaway charge.
• The down payment is 20% of the total pre-tax retail price of the merchandise. This payment holds the merchandise for up to two months.
• Merchandise on layaway must be paid for in full within two months, or the layaway will be canceled. No partial takeouts of a multiple-item layaway are permitted.
• You may cancel this layaway at any time before your last payment is made.
• In the event of cancellation, we will refund all money you have paid, less a cancellation charge of 20% of the total pre-tax retail price of the merchandise.
• Sales and discounts do not apply to merchandise on layaway.

Back issue comics (vintage and regular) are graded for their condition and priced according to the current price guides (both in-print and online). Most newer back issues are priced at their cover price, plus the price of a bag & board.

Absolutely! Don’t know what to get that special someone? That’s why we offer EC Gift Certificates! They are available in any amount over 99 cents. They are available in increments of $1 on the online shop, but they are currently only usable in our physical store.

You may return an item
•    for store credit
•    with a receipt
•    within 15 days of purchase
•    if the item and packaging are in their original condition.

If the above points do not apply, we may be unable to accommodate a return, but we will do our best to take care of you.
Our goal is making our Guests happy!

We do buy comics and collectibles that we are sold out of, and that we think we can sell.

If you have a large collection, send or bring us a list we can review. For comics, email backissues@emeraldcitycomics.com; for toys & collectibles, email toys@emeraldcitycomics.com.

If you have a small box of comics or collectibles, call ahead at 727-398-2665 to make sure a buyer is available before bringing them in.

For comic books, we do buy older “vintage” comics — those that were published before 1974, as well as select “key issues” that our Guests are always in the market for.

What we would recommend is to take a close look at the publication dates on your comics. The publication date is normally printed in small print on either the inside front cover or more commonly on the bottom of the first (or sometimes last) page of the comic.

You can also check the cover price of a comic to get some idea of how old it is. Vintage comics usually have a cover price of 20 cents or less, and the oldest ones have a cover price of 10 or 12 cents.

We would be happy to take a look at any of your comics that were published before 1974 as long as they are in relatively good condition; we have a hard time selling coverless, incomplete, or very badly damaged comics.

As mentioned, we do also buy “key issues.” Email our Back Issues Merchant at backissues@emeraldcitycomics.com for a list of newer Key Issues that we will usually buy. If you happen to have any of the books from this list in your collection, we would be happy to take a look at those as well.

We are always happy to donate comics for a good cause. Please contact us about a week in advance so we can prepare a donation, and bring a letterhead or receipt for our records.

The Marvel version of the chaotically fast-paced cooperative card game 5-Minute Dungeon that lets a group of Marvel heroes battle past Marvel bosses all in less than 5 minutes! Fast and frenetic gameplay gets everyone involved and engaged. Cooperative gameplay encourages communication, interpersonal interaction, and teamwork. 10 Marvel heroes to choose from and 6 progressively difficult Marvel bosses delivers strong re-playability.

In more detail, players assume the role of one of ten superheroes, each with special cards and abilities. Once the Jarvis-hosted five-minute timer starts, the race is on to defeat all the villains in the mission. In order to defeat a villain, players must match symbols from their hand with ones on the villain's card. At the end of each mission is a powerful super villain — and after the first super villain is defeated, the campaign continues to the second super villain. Each super villain, and each randomized mission, gets harder until players reach Thanos, the final super villain.

    Deception. Deduction. Destruction.

In Hail Hydra, you and your friends team up as Marvel's S.H.I.E.L.D. heroes to save New York City! But wait — your fellow heroes may be villainous HYDRA operatives in your midst! Use social deduction to determine who is a secret HYDRA agent and who is truly loyal to S.H.I.E.L.D. If you succeed, you and your fellow S.H.I.E.L.D. heroes will retrieve the Cosmic Cube from the Red Skull and save the city! If the city is destroyed, HYDRA wins.

Each player selects one of the 24 included Sailor Moon Crystal series characters to play, either randomly (by drawing from the face-down deck of character cards) or purposefully. You and an opponent use your selected characters to battle each other in several rounds of combat. During the game, both of you are rolling a number of polyhedral dice and trying to use the numbers rolled to capture your opponent’s dice and gain points. The winner gains a victory point while the defeated character powers up and becomes an even stronger opponent! The first person to win three rounds wins the game (best 3 out of 5).

There's also the option to play the game using teams when you have more than two players, either through single combat teams or in tag-team combats. To accommodate an unlimited number of players at an anime/gaming/fandom convention, local game store/cafe, or any large gathering of family and friends, additional tournament rules are provided.

Brass: Birmingham is an economic strategy game sequel to Martin Wallace' 2007 masterpiece, Brass. Birmingham tells the story of competing entrepreneurs in Birmingham during the industrial revolution, between the years of 1770-1870.

The game is played over two halves: the canal era (years 1770-1830) and the rail era (years 1830-1870). To win the game, score the most VPs. VPs are counted at the end of each half for the canals, rails and established (flipped) industry tiles.

Birmingham features dynamic scoring canals/rails. Instead of each flipped industry tile giving a static 1 VP to all connected canals and rails, many industries give 0 or even 2 VPs. This provides players with the opportunity to score much higher value canals in the first era, and creates interesting strategy with industry placement.

Brass: Birmingham is a finely brewed sequel to one of history's most industrial economic games. It offers a very different story arc and experience from its predecessor. Many of the tried and true strategies of the original are no longer as powerful as they once were, and other interesting new strategies are waiting for you to discover.

"You're looking well, darling. One lump or two?"

It's the most sought-after invitation of the year: Dinoton Abbey for high tea. Now you're all gussied up in your finery and ready for some tea and chit-chat. One problem: You can't remember anyone's name. Who's that, sporting the fancy brooch with her pet chicken? Is that Jeannine? Beatriz? Oh, dear. If you're not careful, you'll commit a faux pas everyone will be gossiping about.

Dinosaur Tea Party is a game of pure deduction for 2-5 homo sapiens. Each player takes a card corresponding to one of the dino guests. Players take turns asking each other questions or guessing their dinosaur's name. If someone guesses your name, draw a new card. The first player to guess three names wins.

Munchkin Starfinder combines the roleplaying, backstabbing action of classic Munchkin with the lasers, alien planets, starships, and adorably deadly skittermanders from the Starfinder Roleplaying Game! Defeat The Swarm and loot the universe in Munchkin Starfinder!

Review by Darryl Blaker, Director of Marketing @ EC!

"CROWDED" by Christopher Sebela (writer), Ro Stein and Ted Brandt (artists), from Image Comics.

"Crowded" is a fantastic new series that taps into today's screen and app-obsessed culture. Charlie is your average, multi-tasking Millennial, holding down a dozen app-appointed jobs; everything from dog-walking to loaning out her clothes. Suddenly, she's been marked for assassination - by a crowd-sourcing app, of course - where for some reason, a long list of people are willing to pay a few bucks each to have her killed.

Of course, the Internet also solves this problem by providing her a tough-as-nails, (but rated 1 1/2 stars), bodyguard named Vita, who is willing to keep Charlie holed up in the dilapidated house she's squatting in for the month, as long as the check - er, Bitcoin clears.

This first issue (and number 2 is out now; both available at Emerald City Comics) takes off immediately. The writing is sharp and witty, and the artwork fits the tone of the story perfectly. If Hollywood hasn't already snatched up the rights to this yet, you might want to see if it's being crowd-funded, because "Crowded" is definitely going to push itself into the mainstream soon.

Update: Turns out I was right, Rebel Wilson ("Bridesmaids," "Pitch Perfect") is already making this into a feature film. Toldja. (You gotta be fast in today's world!)

    My Grade: A+

You can follow Darryl on Instagram for more comic and graphic novel reviews, Pop! Vinyl pics and more, here: www.instagram.com/darrylblaker/?hl=en

Root is a game of adventure and war in which 2 to 4 (1 to 6 with the 'Riverfolk' expansion) players battle for control of a vast wilderness.

The nefarious Marquise de Cat has seized the great woodland, intent on harvesting its riches. Under her rule, the many creatures of the forest have banded together. This Alliance will seek to strengthen its resources and subvert the rule of Cats. In this effort, the Alliance may enlist the help of the wandering Vagabonds who are able to move through the more dangerous woodland paths. Though some may sympathize with the Alliance’s hopes and dreams, these wanderers are old enough to remember the great birds of prey who once controlled the woods.

Meanwhile, at the edge of the region, the proud, squabbling Eyrie have found a new commander who they hope will lead their faction to resume their ancient birthright. The stage is set for a contest that will decide the fate of the great woodland. It is up to the players to decide which group will ultimately take root.

Root represents the next step in our development of asymmetric design. Like Vast: The Crystal Caverns, each player in Root has unique capabilities and a different victory condition. Now, with the aid of gorgeous, multi-use cards, a truly asymmetric design has never been more accessible.

The Cats play a game of engine building and logistics while attempting to police the vast wilderness. By collecting Wood they are able to produce workshops, lumber mills, and barracks. They win by building new buildings and crafts.

The Eyrie musters their hawks to take back the Woods. They must capture as much territory as possible and build roosts before they collapse back into squabbling.

The Alliance hides in the shadows, recruiting forces and hatching conspiracies. They begin slowly and build towards a dramatic late-game presence--but only if they can manage to keep the other players in check.

Meanwhile, the Vagabond plays all sides of the conflict for their own gain, while hiding a mysterious quest. Explore the board, fight other factions, and work towards achieving your hidden goal.

In Root, players drive the narrative, and the differences between each role create an unparalleled level of interaction and replayability. Leder Games invites you and your family to explore the fantastic world of Root!

As you might expect, Rick and Morty: The Pickle Rick Game is based on the "Pickle Rick" episode of Adult Swim's Rick and Morty. One player plays as Pickle Rick as he tries to escape a heavily armed compound, while the other player takes on the roles of both the Russians and Jaguar as they try to stop him. The Pickle Rick player uses weapons cards to dole out damage and Air Vents to get out of jams as they try to get to the rooftop. The game includes both Pickle Rick and Jaguar miniatures that are moved across a dynamic board made up of tiles that are constantly being added, rotated, and flipped.

Adding to the off-the-wall fun is the game's packaging: It looks like a pickle!

Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards: Panic at the Pleasure Palace, the fourth game in the Epic Spell Wars series, takes the trademark humor-filled, mature gameplay and artwork to a new level for 2-6 players. Magically transmitted diseases (MTDs) are a powerful addition to the proceedings, leading wizards to suffer Crotch Krakens, Genital Harpies, and Gorgonorrhea, among other enchanted afflictions. MTDs also give players glyphs that lead to spells that are more epic than ever. In addition, players vie for control of the standee, which protects them from the MTDs that might come their way.

Investigate unspeakable horrors without losing your marbles — literally!

The veil between worlds in thinning, an ancient horror is awakening, and the very existence of the world hangs in the balance. You must investigate a series of horrific locations and discover the unknowable truth before the world ends — or go mad in the attempt to save it. Find the paranormal gates that have opened onto our world, and be stout of heart and strong of mind for only then will you discover how to seal the gates and save humanity.

In Tower of Madness, a three-dimensional clock tower, standing a foot tall and filled with marbles of four distinct colors, stands before you. Thirty unworldly tentacles push through the tower walls in every direction in this high-tension, push-your-luck dice game of Lovecraft-inspired horror. Fail your investigation dice rolls and you will be forced to draw a tentacle from the tower. Any marbles that fall as a result affect your character immediately, whether adding to your discovery total, gaining you spells and knowledge that man was not meant to have, or gaining madness; drop one of the three DOOM marbles, however, and you summon Cthulhu and end the game.

Investigate every horrific location in the deck, each with its own unique dice challenge, in order to save the world before your luck runs out. The player with the most discovery points is declared the hero and wins the game. Otherwise, the insane players collectively enjoy a brief moment of victory as Cthulhu rises, destroys the world, and eats them last...as their reward.

Since ancient times, the twinkling of the heavens inspired people across the globe to create stories that answered the most important of questions: "Who are we… and how did it all begin?"

Open this box, and join the storytellers of old. Before There Were Stars... is a storytelling game in which each player tells the mythic creation story of "their people". Inspired by constellation cards, players craft tales about the creation of the world, the origins of civilization, the rise of a great hero, and the end of days.

This "feel-good" game lets you appreciate the boundless imagination in all of us and awards points for the best story moments — allowing everyone to shine regardless of their skill as a storyteller. Playing this game is a breath of fresh air that never repeats itself, except in the fun and warmth of emotion it brings to your table.
