THE SHEPHERD

In the ancient world, writers told stories about heroes who, after the death of a loved one, went into the afterlife, intending to save their loved ones. Examples range from the Sumerian Gilgamesh to the Greek stories of Orpheus, Demeter, and Heracles to the Roman Aeneas’ journey in Virgil’s The Aeneid, Book 6.

This search for a loved one and the related idea of journeys in the afterlife are the two core ideas that drive THE SHEPHERD graphic novel series.

THE SHEPHERD combines: the vengeance from beyond the grave of James O’Barr’s The Crow, the extra-planar journeys of Marvel’s Doctor Strange, the concern for redemption of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol … with Dante’s Divine Comedy (the Purgatorio) thrown in for good measure!
